~3,500 Members Serve in Federal Policing to protect Canada and Canadians

Our Federal Policing Members play a critical role in safeguarding Canada’s national security by investigating the most significant criminal threats domestically and internationally. Federal Policing is a core responsibility of the RCMP, and takes place across all provinces, territories and internationally.

Canada Must Invest in its Federal Policing Resources

RCMP Federal Policing has been under-resourced for too long. Recent threats to public safety, rise in operational demands at Canada’s border, and threats of terrorism necessitate further investment.

We are calling on Government for additional funding for Federal Policing to put more boots on the ground to protect Canada and Canadians and fight organized and transnational crime and these evolving threats.

  • Organized Crime: Homicides linked to organized crime have increased by 148% from 2014 to 2022.
  • Cybercrime: Reports of cybercrime have surged by 152% from 2017 to 2023
  • Human trafficking: Police-reported incidents have risen nearly every year from 2012 to 2021
  • Financial Crime: Fraud losses reported by the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre reached a record $530.4 million in 2022
