Highly Trained and Skilled
RCMP Members are among the best trained police officers around the world. Every Member spends 26 weeks learning valuable technical and communication skills at Depot, the RCMP’s training academy in Regina, Saskatchewan. After graduation, Members are paired with a Field Trainer who acts as an on-the-job coach. Members also complete annual training and certifications throughout their careers.

Sustainable Policing,
From Coast to Coast to Coast
Municipalities, Provinces, and Territories that use the RCMP benefit from a cost-sharing agreement with the federal government. These contracts mean that the federal government contributes between 10-30% of local policing costs. As just one example, in Alberta, the federal government contributes more than $185 million in policing costs every year. These contributions allow governments to be more flexible with their resources, providing more funding for social programs, affordable housing, and building new infrastructure like hospitals or schools.
