Working Together for a
Safer New Brunswick.
New Brunswick and the RCMP have a long history of professional service and community integration. Since 1932, RCMP Members have called New Brunswick home.
Support your RCMP Members and Public Safety Resources this Municipal Election!
Our NB RCMP Members are proud to serve our communities as world-class police officers. They also live in our neighborhoods and are part of our communities as coaches and mentors. As crime continues to evolve, this municipal election is a critical opportunity to ensure community and public safety remains a top priority – and they need your support to make that happen.
This election, ask your local candidates: What is your plan to resource the NB RCMP and ensure our safety?
You and your neighbours in your community deserve to feel safe and protected no matter where we choose to live, work, and play. RCMP Members already deliver professional policing services and provide many benefits including:
1. Access to over 150+ specialized policing services & Surge capacity:
Highly trained units from Forensic Teams to Major Crime Investigators to Mental Health experts can be called to any community across the province to support critical incidents and investigations. The NB RCMP also deploys Members seamlessly between communities when needed in times of local emergencies, including floods, fires, road incidents and more.
2. Community Policing:
Members are actively involved with schools, youth groups, community organizations and First Nations across New Brunswick, raising over $16,000 through local giving initiatives like “Stuff a Cruiser”. In 2024 alone, Members hosted 20 community engagement sessions to hear directly from the people they serve.
3. Fiscally responsible policing:
With the federal government paying for 30% of all policing costs in New Brunswick, this means our communities benefit from strong policing at a lower cost than other police services, allowing the Province and our municipalities to invest in other priorities like fixing potholes, building new homes, and more.

RCMP Policing: A Proven Model for a Safer New Brunswick
RCMP Members are trusted public safety experts who provide policing services to 70% of New Brunswickers, covering over 98% of the province’s landmass through 39 detachments.
From urban centres and small towns to Indigenous communities, the RCMP delivers adaptable, community-based policing supported by specialized services such as major crime units, police service dogs, and emergency response teams, benefiting all communities across the province.
As New Brunswick grows, public safety demands are rising. RCMP Members now respond to more than 155,000 calls for service annually, a 58% increase over the past decade, yet police resources have not kept pace with population growth or municipal restructuring.
To maintain public safety, meet growing demand, and support newly amalgamated municipalities, New Brunswick must invest in expanding RCMP capacity. With record-high recruitment and strong public support for enhancing existing RCMP services, now is the time to strengthen a proven policing model that keeps communities safe, resilient, and well-served.
The RCMP’s Specialized

The RCMP provides general duty policing to many New Brunswickers, and as the provincial police service, they also provide critical operational support services to communities, other law enforcement agencies and criminal justice partners.
The RCMP’s 150+ specialized policing services include:
- Explosive Disposal Unit: including-blast investigators, explosives forced entry experts, and homemade explosives investigators
- Emergency Response Teams
- Special Tactical Operations
- Major Crime Unit
- Underwater Recovery Team

RCMP and New-Brunswick:
An intertwined history
The RCMP’s initial headquarters were established in Fredericton at the historic Old Government House. This marked the beginning of a partnership that has endured for nearly 100, symbolizing the commitment of RCMP Members to serving and protecting the people of New Brunswick.
Today, RCMP Members in New Brunswick play a vital role in maintaining public safety, enforcing laws, supporting community well-being, and contributing to national security..
Members of the RCMP are involved in many community policing programs, but most notably those related to Indigenous policing, drug awareness, youth safety, and Crime Stoppers.
The RCMP also remains the most efficient and cost-effective policing model for New Brunswick. With the current 70/30 federal cost-sharing model, the New Brunswick saves approximately $44 million annually in RCMP policing costs, allowing the province and communities to invest in other essential services.
The RCMP’s history in New Brunswick is marked by a legacy of dedication, adaptability, and service. As it continues to evolve, RCMP Members remain an integral part of the Province’s fabric, working tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of the people they serve.
