NL RCMP Members: Dedicated to the Communities They Serve

RCMP Members live and work in communities spanning 80% of NL’s landmass, helping ensure public safety for more than half of the province’s residents. With a presence in more than 650 communities, RCMP teams provide localized policing and rapid response across the province.

From responding to major crimes, supporting mental health calls, or mentoring youth, RCMP Members are an integral part of the communities they serve; volunteering, coaching, and building trust every day.

Newfoundlanders and Labradorians Support their RCMP Members

Newfoundland and Labrador residents across the province support RCMP Members. Public opinion research from Pollara Strategic Insights (August 2025) shows that NL residents are very satisfied or satisfied with RCMP policing services.

World Class Affordable Policing

Through the Provincial Police Service Agreement, NL residents benefit from a cost-sharing model where the federal government covers 30% of RCMP policing costs – saving the province around $32 million every year. That’s money that can be reinvested in hospitals, schools, roads, and other vital services.

In addition, the RCMP can deploy Members from across Canada to communities large and small throughout Newfoundland and Labrador, supporting residents during local emergencies, wildfires, or critical incidents.

RCMP Members also provide access to more than 150 specialized policing services that support and enhance public safety in communities across the province, including:

  • Major Crime Units
  • Emergency Response Teams (ERT)
  • Forensic Identification Services (FIS)
  • Police Dog Services
